In the business world, maybe we’re familiar with the terms of marketing, promotion, and selling. What’s the difference? In fact there are still many people the wrong meaning of marketing. When speaking of marketing, there are still many who think promotion. They think that it is a promotional marketing. Wrong? No, promotion is part of marketing. This means that rather than promotional marketing alone.
The second misunderstanding is that many people understood, is marketing the same as selling (selling). Even many who claim a marketer, but he’s a salesman. Wrong? Not really, the truth is part of a marketing sales. So instead of just marketing and sales promotion only. So what?
Many people who simplify marketing campaign coupled with the sale. It’s OK, but will not give optimal results. Now let’s think. For example, you conduct a campaign to put an ad in a magazine. The question is, what makes the magazine’s readers care about your advertising? It could be a lot of advertising in the magazine with products or services similar to yours. Why they should choose your ad?
“The reason” they choose the ads you can not be answered simply by promotion only. Then, why they buy your product or use your services, not simply answered by sales alone. This means that there must be something prepared in advance before the promotion and sales. Thus, marketing is not just a promotion and sales.
Ads that interest was not enough. Perhaps, the market will be interested in your ad, but after they are interested then they can turn their attention to other ads. Why? Maybe they ask who you are? Why should you care? Because, others also provide products or services similar to yours. That is, you must provide a strong rationale for the market to choose you.
What’s a good reason?
The first is the placement yourself or with a fancy term called positioning. When you have been placed in “position” of certain of the most profitable, the market will pick you. I write the word with quotes positions, meaning that it can be referred to the position in terms of physical and non physical. In physical terms, means a physical position. You’ve heard of strategic places? This means that the place has the most favorable position. In fact, it could be (not always) you do not need promotion, but the market will come to your place.
